Missions

Jerusalem

Our Jerusalem represents the Sugar Land Community and local sphere of influence of our church. Second Mile Mission Center, a best-in-class benevolence ministry birthed from Sugar Creek is one of our key Jerusalem partners. Local community outreach projects, block parties, public school ministry, Hispanic ministry, and prison ministry are examples Jerusalem ministries.

Second Mile Ministries
Second Mile Mission Center is a non-profit benevolence hub for our community that demonstrates the love of Jesus Christ by connecting community resources with the crisis and care needs of individuals. In 2004, over 41,000 people received assistance of food, clothing, household items, furniture, emergency financial aid and medical assistance. Over 150,000 pounds of food and clothing is being distributed monthly to those in need. Faces are being lifted, hearts are seeking hope and lives are being changed daily by the love of Christ shown through this ministry.
Good News Bible Clubs!
This is a new ministry, beginning in 2005. Good News Bible clubs will provide weekly bible study in the public elementary schools of Fort bend County. The first club is planned for Austin Parkway Elementary School. Volunteers provide music, games and snacks through a wonderful curriculum provided by Child Evangelism Fellowship.
Automotive Outreach
Through this ministry we provide free auto repair labor, from certified Master ASE technicians to needy families, both inside and outside of our church family.
Prison Ministries
Our church is a partner in the first Christian prison unit in America - the Carol Vance Unit in Richmond, TX about 15 miles west of Sugar Land. Our church provides mentors for the men in this 300+ bed unit and after their release provides assimilation into our church and the world. Our church also currently employs men who have graduated from this program. Through this program, recidivism is less than 6%, compared to nearly 70% for the general prison population.
CARES by Apartment Life
Through this ministry, local missionaries serve in apartment communities, acting as ambassadors for Christ and Liaisons for our church family.
Overcomers
Overcomers exists to bring hope to those who otherwise feel that life is without meaningful opportunity (i.e. Hopeless). This ministry was founded on the conviction that no matter how desperate life's challenges may be, in Jesus Christ there is always solid reason to be optimistic. Through Overcomers, Sugar Creek member, Tim Herron and his team equip Christians everywhere to effectively aid those around them by imparting comfort, wisdom, prayer and a saving acceptance of Jesus Christ.
